Parliament House is full of interesting displays and documents, including one of the four existing original hand written copies of the Magna Carta.  It’s kept in a darkened environment to avoid damage from light, which makes it a little difficult to photograph – no flash allowed.

There is also a gallery of portraits of former Prime Ministers, Governors General and other assorted roughnecks, including Gough Whitlam, the PM who was thrown out by the Governor General in 1975, and the Queen, Australia’s Head of State (a situation which Tony has railed against for years, but this trip to Canberra may have changed his view on that – see High Court.)

We hung out at the public coffee shop instead, from where one can watch the lawn on the roof being mown – see the guy in the ‘lawn tractor’?
